Fiber Splicer, Data Center Construction
Overview
You will own fiber splicing and testing for hyperscale data center projects with Insight Global, supporting some of the largest fiber infrastructure builds in the country. Your work spans high-count cables, ribbon splicing, and troubleshooting across projects in Dallas, TX and Manassas, VA. You will join a team of technicians and leads, collaborating to meet tight construction deadlines. Long-term project stability with 60-70 hour weeks and full travel support sets this role apart.
What You'll Do10
- 1Perform fusion splicing and termination of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables.
- 2Work with high-count fiber configurations, including 8x64, 69x12, and 64-count cables.
- 3Complete ribbon splicing and other advanced splicing methods.
- 4Prepare and dress fiber cables for 17/28, 34/56, 8/64, and 69/12 configurations.
- 5Conduct fiber testing using OTDRs, OLTS, and light meters.
- 6Troubleshoot failed fiber links, excessive loss readings, and connectivity issues.
- 7Read and interpret fiber matrices, splice schematics, and project drawings.
- 8Maintain accurate test results and as-built documentation.
- 9Follow site safety requirements and quality standards.
- 10Collaborate with technicians, leads, and project teams to meet project deadlines.
Requirements7
- 12+ years of fiber splicing experience preferred, with 1+ year considered if you have data center fiber experience.
- 2Hands-on experience with ribbon splicing or similar high-density splicing methods.
- 3Ability to prepare high-count fiber cables, including 17/28, 34/56, 8/64, and 69/12 configurations.
- 4Proficiency in troubleshooting fiber networks and identifying loss issues using OTDRs and OLTS.
- 5Strong fiber optic fundamentals and knowledge of single-mode and multi-mode systems.
- 6Excellent communication skills and proven reliability in a team environment.
- 7Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
