Overview
You will own the daily cleaning and maintenance of assigned school areas, including cafeterias, restrooms, and gymnasiums, ensuring safe and orderly conditions. You will operate heavy equipment like floor scrubbers and buffers, and complete tasks like stripping, waxing, and filter changes. You will join a team that keeps schools operational and clean, with Basic Facilities Service certification required. You will receive on-the-job training and work in a collaborative environment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Clean assigned areas such as cafeterias, restrooms, offices, gymnasiums, and halls according to custodial standards.
- 2Empty trash containers and compactor bags, carrying them to dumpsters and disposing of waste.
- 3Sweep, mop, brush, vacuum, strip, and wax floors, including walls and walkways.
- 4Wash and sanitize sinks, toilets, showers, and plumbing fixtures, restocking soap and towels.
- 5Replace light bulbs and fluorescent lights, clean fixtures, and remove and clean filters.
- 6Dust, wipe, wash, and wax furniture; perform minor repairs as needed.
- 7Operate heavy equipment for stripping and sealing floors in gymnasium and on stage, and use heavy-duty vacuums.
- 8Move and transport furniture, such as chairs, desks, and television monitors.
- 9Change air conditioning filters and clean vents, and maintain equipment by lubricating and storing safely.
- 10Receive and unload supplies, store them properly, and report needed supplies or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
Requirements9
- 1Ability to complete Basic Facilities Service training and receive certification within probationary period.
- 2Ability to perform custodial work.
- 3Ability to operate labor-saving devices such as shampoo and scrubbing machines, wet and dry vacuums.
- 4Ability to do heavy lifting and climb ladders.
- 5Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English.
- 6Ability to work well with others.
- 7Computer skills as required for the position.
- 8Standard high school diploma or GED preferred.
- 92 years of experience as facilities serviceperson aide preferred.
