External Auditor 1, Medicaid Program Integrity
Overview
You will own routine financial, compliance, and operational audits for the Ohio Department of Medicaid's Provider Compliance unit. You will analyze confidential records and provider claims to detect fraud, waste, and abuse. Collaborating with BPI reviewers, you will prepare audit reports and corrective action plans. This role requires travel to provider sites across Franklin County and provides a chance to safeguard public funds.
What You'll Do7
- 1Conduct routine financial, compliance, and operational audits of healthcare providers to ensure billing accuracy and quality of care.
- 2Operate auditing software, including spreadsheets, word processors, and databases, to manage audit data.
- 3Analyze confidential records and data from departmental systems to identify potential fraud, waste, or abuse.
- 4Collaborate with BPI reviewers and ODM professionals to review provider payment claims and coding.
- 5Prepare detailed audit reports with recommendations for corrective action plans.
- 6Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders during on-site reviews.
- 7Travel to provider sites, occasionally with overnight stays, to perform audits.
Requirements6
- 13+ years of experience in auditing or accounting, including 18 months of auditing in accordance with auditing standards.
- 2Completion of undergraduate core coursework in accounting, business administration, computer science, or related field with 12 months of auditing experience.
- 3Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and relational databases for audit analysis.
- 4Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- 5Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate verbally and in writing.
- 6Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel to provider sites.
