Inventory Control Specialist, Statewide Operations
Overview
You will own the statewide inventory system, coordinating, analyzing, and controlling all materials, supplies, and equipment for the agency. With 2+ years of related experience, you will manage inventory from receipt to disposal, prepare the annual auditor report, and drive improvements. You will work with field offices, warehouses, and the investment recovery officer, ensuring compliance with state regulations. This role stands out because it combines hands-on inventory audits with policy development and cross-agency training.
What You'll Do8
- 1Coordinate the statewide inventory system, entering and updating item records in SAP and Excel.
- 2Conduct random physical audits of inventory locations, verifying counts and reconciling discrepancies.
- 3Develop and enforce inventory policies and procedures, including salvage and surplus disposal, in line with Ohio Administrative Code.
- 4Prepare the annual inventory report for the Auditor of State, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- 5Monitor surplus property receipts and dispositions, coordinating with the investment recovery officer on equipment disposal.
- 6Evaluate distribution and inventory systems, recommending improvements to reduce shrink and increase efficiency.
- 7Train district and warehouse staff on inventory control procedures and salvage disposal at meetings.
- 8Serve as safety and public relations officer for inventory operations, handling sensitive stakeholder inquiries.
Requirements8
- 118 months of training or experience in inventory control.
- 23 courses or 9 months of experience in electronic data processing for inventory control systems.
- 31 course or 3 months of experience in public relations.
- 4Knowledge of state regulations on inventory and surplus disposal, including Ohio Revised Code.
- 5Skill in operating computers, typewriters, and calculators.
- 6Ability to lift 25-30 lbs. and perform physical inventory counts.
- 7Ability to calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- 8Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
