Overview

Lead Braven's expansion into North Carolina as the founding Executive Director, owning the launch of a new region and the first higher education partnership. You will build and manage the regional team, raise $9M in startup funding, and establish Braven as a thought leader in the college-to-career space. This temporary role transitions to permanent upon partnership agreement, reporting to the Founder & CEO. You will shape the vision for serving 80,000-100,000 Fellows nationally.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Develop and implement a multi-year strategic plan for the NC region, targeting scale and excellent outcomes with the new higher education partner.
  • 2Build and manage a regional advisory board to maximize regional impact, narrative, and sustainability.
  • 3Secure $9M in funding from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government sources before the new school launches.
  • 4Forge and maintain relationships with university executives, corporate partners, and civic leaders to elevate Braven's brand and policy influence.
  • 5Hire, coach, and develop a diverse regional team, modeling Braven's culture and values.
  • 6Manage the Regional Senior Director and Director of External Affairs, ensuring strong program execution and positive Fellow and volunteer experiences.
  • 7Represent the NC region on the Alignment Team, influencing organization-wide strategy and growth.
  • 8Drive data-informed decisions to optimize program outcomes and regional sustainability.
  • 9Lead external affairs strategy in collaboration with the central team, including thought leadership, public speaking, and media engagement.

Requirements10

  • 17-10 years of executive leadership experience, with a track record of achieving outcomes and building inclusive team culture.
  • 21-3 years in nonprofit, higher education, economic development, or chamber of commerce roles.
  • 3Proficiency in Google Suite, Slack, Asana, Salesforce, Jira, and Confluence.
  • 4Demonstrated commitment to supporting first-generation and low-income college students.
  • 5Proven ability to fundraise and mobilize stakeholders around a mission.
  • 6Experience building partnerships with funders, boards, and senior leaders.
  • 7Strong presence and communication skills to engage high-profile community stakeholders.
  • 8High personal responsibility, maturity, and self-awareness of leadership impact.
  • 9Ability to translate data into actionable insights for strategy.
  • 10Authorization to work in the U.S. and live in the NC area, with travel to Fayetteville, Raleigh, Charlotte, and Chicago.
