What You'll Do11
- 1Review bid documents, drawings, and specifications to define project scope before drafting estimates.
- 2Develop scope letters and send them to general contractors prior to bid day.
- 3Take off all material, labor, and equipment using Fabtrol and Excel per company estimating standards.
- 4Communicate and verify scope with general contractors or customers before bid submission.
- 5Manage time to complete bids early, allowing thorough review before release.
- 6Review final bid with the Chief Estimator or President, incorporating input on detailing and production capacity.
- 7Submit bid prices to general contractors or customers before the closing bid time.
- 8Follow up with all general contractors and customers after bid submission.
- 9Foster relationships with key vendors, general contractors, and subcontractors to support estimating and bidding.
- 10Write project turnover data sheets and review successful bids with assigned project managers.
- 11Review and price change orders or revisions that exceed a realistic value to workload ratio.
Requirements6
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2Proven experience in the construction industry, with estimating and bidding experience preferred.
- 3Strong organizational skills to manage multiple bid deadlines.
- 4Written and oral communication skills to interact effectively with general contractors and customers.
