Overview

You will own the control systems for new R&D test fixtures and automated systems supporting product development and production ramp-up at Bloom Energy. Working with Allen Bradley PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs, you bridge mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to deliver reliable systems. The NPI team values cross-disciplinary collaboration and bold innovation in clean energy. You will commission equipment, troubleshoot root causes, and train operators for seamless handoff, shaping how PLC-driven automation drives clean energy deployment.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Program and configure Allen Bradley PLCs for process development and manufacturing systems.
  • 2Use communication protocols like EtherNet/IP and Modbus to enable reliable data exchange between controllers and equipment.
  • 3Lead commissioning activities with cross-functional teams to verify system performance and safety.
  • 4Collaborate with process, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to define requirements for new SCADA and HMI systems.
  • 5Repurpose and upgrade existing fixtures for feasibility studies and proof-of-concept testing.
  • 6Document automation processes and transfer complete systems to Operations for production ramp-up.
  • 7Train operators and maintenance staff during equipment handoff to ensure smooth NPI to Operations transition.

Requirements7

  • 10-2 years of experience in industrial automation and system integration.
  • 2Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or related field.
  • 3Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC ladder logic programming.
  • 4Strong interest in developing and commissioning control systems with SCADA, MES, PLCs, and HMIs.
  • 5Solid troubleshooting skills for control, electrical, and mechanical issues.
  • 6Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams.
  • 7Experience with structured text programming in Python or C/C++ is a plus.
