Environmental Risk Officer, Real Estate & Seismic
Overview
Own environmental and seismic due diligence for collateral properties at scale within a leading financial institution. Manage report engagement, review, and delivery while upholding regulatory compliance across federal, state, and local laws and OCC guidance. Analyze complex environmental and seismic risk issues and communicate findings to bank personnel and lenders in clear terms. Work independently, take initiative, and contribute to risk mitigation strategies in a dynamic environment.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build and order environmental and seismic risk reports from approved consultants
- 2Review reports for technical accuracy and alignment with scopes of work
- 3Communicate risk conclusions and recommendations for additional due diligence or site mitigation
- 4Counsel bank personnel on environmental and seismic risks and risk management options
- 5Research and analyze complex environmental guidelines and legislation
- 6Identify, respond and escalate environmental and seismic risks as appropriate
- 7Advise on risk mitigation strategies in real estate transactions
- 8Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance
- 9Support report delivery and client communication through the process
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 210 to 15 years of applicable environmental experience in environmental assessment and remediation
- 3At least 5 years directly related to real estate transactions and environmental liability concerns of lending institutions
- 4Registered Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer
- 5Advanced knowledge of environmental regulations, seismic assessment, and regulatory trends
- 6Experience with Phase I and II environmental investigation and seismic risk assessment
- 7Ability to propose customized environmental and seismic solutions to mitigate risk
- 8Experience in banking or as an environmental risk officer for a lender
- 9Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- 10Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint
