Overview

You will advise claims handlers on Surety Bond Claims across the U.S., overseeing complex construction projects. You will prepare scopes of work, cost estimates, and monitor progress to keep projects on time and within budget. You will work with claims, underwriting, contractors, and external consultants to deliver practical solutions. This role blends engineering expertise with legal and financial acumen in a specialty insurance environment. You will travel to jobsites and engage with stakeholders across the country, making each project a unique challenge.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Advise claims handlers on surety claim files, providing engineering expertise.
  • 2Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates for construction projects.
  • 3Monitor project progress, invoicing, and close-out activities; recommend corrective actions.
  • 4Support claim handlers in overseeing contractors and subcontractors to ensure timely and on-budget delivery.
  • 5Conduct site visits and standard audits with claim handlers.
  • 6Identify jobsite issues and contribute practical solutions to minimize delays and cost impacts.
  • 7Review and interpret project requirements covering technical, contractual, schedule, and budget aspects.
  • 8Participate or lead site/project meetings and prepare regular status reports for stakeholders.
  • 9Develop relationships with outside consultants across the U.S. and prepare clear findings reports.

Requirements9

  • 1Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 2Licensed Engineer (e.g., PE).
  • 37+ years in an engineering consulting firm or relevant construction experience.
  • 4Experience with public construction contracts is a plus.
  • 5Strong written and verbal communication skills, including video conferencing.
  • 6Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and department systems.
  • 7Ability to work independently and as a team member with diverse groups.
  • 8High accuracy, follow-through, and confidentiality handling.
  • 9Willingness to travel.
