Overview

DVM or equivalent degree providing emergency medicine across all cases including exotics at a 24/7 VEG hospital. You will lead on the floor, mentor teammates, and expand your skills through VEG Education programs and unlimited ER CE. You will handle routine to complex emergencies, surgeries, and endoscopy while delivering patient- and family-centered care. What You'll Do10

  • 1Build diagnostic and therapeutic plans after exams and tests
  • 2Deliver immediate triage and same-day physician access through VEG Triage and VEG Spikes
  • 3Conduct physical exams, imaging, labs, and biopsies to inform care
  • 4Lead emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures when needed
  • 5Communicate diagnoses and treatment options clearly to clients
  • 6Prepare and review medical records, estimates, and care plans
  • 7Educate clients on aftercare, prevention, and risks
  • 8Provide compassionate support to families and patients in stress
  • 9Ensure high-quality care through collaboration with team and hospital leadership
  • 10Participate in continuous learning and mentorship initiatives to grow ER skills

Requirements10

  • 1DVM or equivalent degree
  • 2Licensed or eligible to practice veterinary medicine in Indiana
  • 3Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on rotating basis
  • 4Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 kg independently and up to 40 kg with assistance
  • 5Comfort in loud, odor-prone ER environments and fast-paced teamwork
  • 6Experience or interest in emergency surgery, endoscopy, and exotics care
  • 7Strong communication skills with clients and team members
  • 8Empathetic, ownership-driven, curious about ongoing learning
  • 9Eligible for VEG education programs and ER-specific CE commitments
  • 10Ability to maintain composure and quality care under pressure
