Emergency Veterinarian, Per Diem & Exotics at VEG in MN
Overview
DVM or equivalent joining a nationwide emergency team that handles cases 24/7 365 days a year. You’ll triage, diagnose, perform surgeries, and educate clients across a fast paced ER with exotics welcome. You’ll work with a mentorship driven culture and ongoing ER focused CE that supports career growth. You’ll lead on the hospital floor backed by a team and resources that empower you to advance your career.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build diagnostic and therapeutic plans for urgent cases and communicate options to clients
- 2Provide on site triage and immediate medical care to patients including surgeries and endoscopy
- 3Manage medical records, imaging, labs, and biopsy results to ensure accuracy
- 4Perform minor and major emergency procedures and endoscopic interventions
- 5Lead client education on aftercare and prevention strategies
- 6Support a team oriented environment and contribute to shift operations
- 7Participate in VEG Education programs and mentorship initiatives
- 8Respond to emergencies in exotics and routine cases with compassion and speed
- 9Gather signalment, presenting complaints, vitals, and perform physical exams
- 10Contribute to hospital workflow by documenting and reviewing case details effectively
Requirements10
- 1DVM or equivalent degree
- 2Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Minnesota
- 3Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 kg with assistive support up to 40 kg
- 4Comfort with a noisy environment and strong odors
- 5Availability to work nights weekends and holidays on a rotating basis
- 6Thrive in a fast paced team environment with diverse staff
- 7Willingness to operate in a high volume emergency setting
- 8Strong communication skills and patient centered care mindset
- 9Interest in ongoing learning and mentorship through VEG programs
- 10Exotics experience welcomed but not required
