
Embedded Firmware Engineering Manager, Aerospace Motion Control
Overview
You will own firmware development for advanced motion control systems used in robotics, automation, and aerospace. Lead a small team of firmware engineers while staying hands-on with real-time embedded code. Your team builds on ARM Cortex-M and FPGA platforms with C and C++. What You'll Do8
- 1Lead a team of 3-5 firmware engineers, setting technical direction and reviewing code for C and C++ real-time systems.
- 2Architect and implement firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and FPGA-based motion control.
- 3Debug complex issues using JTAG and logic analyzers to ensure precise timing and performance.
- 4Collaborate with hardware engineers to define interface requirements and optimize board-level performance.
- 5Drive firmware testing and validation, including unit tests and hardware-in-the-loop simulations.
- 6Mentor engineers on best practices for embedded development and real-time control.
- 7Work with product management to translate requirements into firmware specifications.
- 8Own the firmware release process, ensuring quality and on-time delivery for customer programs.
Requirements8
- 15+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, with at least 2 years leading engineers.
- 2Strong proficiency in C and C++ for real-time systems.
- 3Experience with ARM Cortex-M or similar microcontrollers and FPGA programming (VHDL/Verilog).
- 4Hands-on debugging with JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- 5Familiarity with communication protocols: SPI, I2C, CAN, EtherCAT.
- 6Knowledge of motion control algorithms or PID control loops.
- 7Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 8Ability to work 5 days onsite in Canton, MA.
Salary Insight
$130 - $160k per year
