The Assistant Principal (Elementary) leads instructional programs at John Adams Elementary and ensures alignment with division regulations for curriculum and assessment. This 12-month administrative role reports to the Head Principal and oversees a diverse, multilingual school. The position shapes curriculum, supervises staff, and drives student success in a dual language model. It uniquely focuses on inclusion, EL services, and advanced academics. What You'll Do9
- 1Select, assign, orient, and evaluate staff to build a high-performing team.
- 2Develop, supervise, and evaluate instructional programs including dual language, specialized instruction, EL services, and advanced academics.
- 3Prepare the school budget and master schedule in a dual language model, ensuring resource alignment.
- 4Formulate and implement professional development activities that enhance teacher effectiveness.
- 5Enforce Board policies and regulations, and champion the school's mission and goals.
- 6Supervise facility use and maintenance, and evaluate custodial staff for a safe environment.
- 7Coordinate student discipline and welfare to foster a positive learning climate.
- 8Contribute to school mission and goals for a supportive community environment.
- 9Assist the principal with additional tasks to ensure efficient school operations.
Requirements6
- 1Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in a related field.
- 2Valid Virginia Teaching License with Administration & Supervision PreK-12 endorsement (or eligibility to obtain).
- 33+ years successful experience as a teacher or administrator.
- 4Experience in elementary curriculum and instruction, including dual language programming, special education inclusion models, EL programming, and advanced academic services.
- 5Performance record demonstrating high integrity, vision, innovation, enthusiasm, and commitment to diverse, multilingual schools.
- 6Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance and tuberculosis skin test.
