Electrical Equipment Testing Technician Lead
Overview
You will lead the Production Testing Team at a Mission Critical Group manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania, ensuring electrical products meet engineering and quality standards. You will oversee testing of low and medium voltage equipment, mentor new technicians, and maintain accurate documentation. This role demands hands-on expertise with High Pot Test Set, Current Injector, Megger, and Relay Test Set, plus supervisory skills to drive team performance. You will collaborate with Engineering to resolve drawing issues and improve test procedures, making a direct impact on product reliability.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead the Production Testing Team, providing training and mentorship to new technicians.
- 2Inspect electrical products including Switchgear, Switchboards, Panelboards, Breakers, and MCCs to ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards.
- 3Perform electrical tests using High Pot Test Set, Current Injector, Megger, Multi Meter, Relay Test Set, and Corona Test Set.
- 4Complete and submit technical test reports after each testing activity.
- 5Create and maintain testing documents, SOPs, and checklists for production testing.
- 6Collaborate with Engineering to identify and resolve issues with electrical drawings.
- 7Evaluate and improve Internal Testing Procedures (ITP) and conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- 8Maintain the Repair/Calibration database and update records, including time tracking.
- 9Ensure adherence to project deadlines and customer requirements, both internal and external.
- 10Maintain a clean work area and comply with OSHA requirements.
Requirements10
- 15+ years experience in testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis of electrical equipment.
- 2Technical college education or equivalent formal training in Electrical Engineering Technologies.
- 3Possess CET/CTech or Electrician's/Journeyman designation/license.
- 4Prior experience with low and medium voltage equipment.
- 5Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret schematics.
- 6Proficiency in MS Office and other computer applications.
- 7Effective interpersonal and communication skills to convey technical findings to stakeholders.
- 8Ability to train personnel, oversee teams, and work as part of a team.
- 9Strong organizational skills, including time management and recordkeeping.
- 10Ability to travel between MCG manufacturing facilities, up to 30-40%, with occasional overnight stays.
