Electrical Engineer, Airport Facilities & Aviation Systems
Overview
Lead the design and construction oversight of electrical systems for Orlando's airport facilities, covering power distribution, lighting, and life safety systems. You'll own the full design lifecycle, from concept through construction, and mentor a team of engineers. Coordinate with regulatory agencies and keep Master Design Guidelines current. What You'll Do8
- 1Lead development of electrical designs, calculations, and specifications for airport facilities and systems.
- 2Oversee preparation of technical drawings and reports that comply with local, state, and federal codes.
- 3Perform technical reviews of engineering drawings and calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- 4Provide design oversight through construction, including submittal approval, shop drawing reviews, and inspections.
- 5Mentor staff engineers and provide technical guidance on complex projects.
- 6Coordinate with regulatory agencies and authorities having jurisdiction to secure permits.
- 7Maintain Master Design Guidelines and Technical Specifications, updating them as standards evolve.
- 8Oversee asset management by using inspection programs and condition assessments to refine the Capital Improvement Program.
Requirements9
- 15+ years of experience in electrical engineering design, with a focus on aviation or large-scale facilities.
- 2Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 3Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and CADD, with working knowledge of BIM.
- 4In-depth knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and aviation regulations like FAA and NFPA.
- 5Demonstrated ability to lead teams and mentor junior engineers.
- 6Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills for contractor and stakeholder coordination.
- 7Proficiency in Primavera for project scheduling and Bluebeam for document review.
- 8Strong attention to detail and design accuracy, with a self-motivated work ethic.
- 9High emotional intelligence (EQ) and teamwork skills, adaptable and skilled in conflict resolution.
