Overview
You will own the dish room and keep all tableware, pots, and cooking equipment clean and ready for service at a busy Palo Alto restaurant. You will load, run, and unload dish machine, monitor water temperature, and maintain a sanitary workspace. You will work alongside the kitchen team, keeping the dish room organized and stocked with clean supplies. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a physical, fast-moving kitchen environment and values a clean, safe workspace.
What You'll Do9
- 1Wash and clean tableware, pots, pans, and cooking equipment by loading, running, and unloading the dish machine.
- 2Monitor dish machine water temperature to ensure a sanitary wash cycle each load.
- 3Keep the dish room and equipment clean and organized, including wiping down counters and storing clean items.
- 4Report any functional or mechanical problems with the dish machine immediately to the kitchen manager.
- 5Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for the dining room and kitchen, stocking shelves and racks as needed.
- 6Bag and haul dish room trash to the dumpster at scheduled times, lifting up to 60 pounds.
- 7Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss, reducing replacement costs.
- 8Stock dish detergents and cleaning supplies, requesting more when levels run low.
- 9Clean food preparation and production areas as required, sanitizing work surfaces after each shift.
Requirements5
- 1No previous restaurant experience required; will train.
- 25+ hours able to work in a standing position for long periods.
- 360 pounds safely lift bags, cases, and stacks multiple times per shift.
- 4Work in hot, wet, humid, and loud environment for extended periods.
- 5Physically able to lift, reach, bend, and stoop throughout the shift.
