Director Talent & Performance, Construction Recruiting
Overview
You will own talent acquisition and performance management for a $1B+ general contractor fueling growth across the Southeast. Reporting to the VP of People & Culture, you will lead a team of recruiters, design scalable sourcing strategies, and embed a performance excellence framework in corporate and field teams. You will partner with operations leaders to build pipelines for hard-to-fill roles and turn workforce data into action. This role is hands-on: you will coach field leaders on tough conversations while running a high-volume recruiting engine.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead and develop the Talent Acquisition team, setting KPIs and service-level expectations from day one.
- 2Build and execute scalable sourcing strategies aligned to headcount goals, using ATS and HRIS data.
- 3Manage full-cycle recruiting for corporate, operations, and field roles, filling 10+ reqs per month.
- 4Develop proactive pipelines for critical roles through industry relationships, referrals, and trade programs.
- 5Negotiate with recruiting vendors and agencies to improve quality and ROI on every spend.
- 6Partner with Marketing to boost employer brand and candidate engagement.
- 7Craft a consistent, high-touch candidate experience mirroring company values.
- 8Drive the performance management process, coaching leaders on goal-setting and feedback.
- 9Partner with the VP on investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
- 10Track metrics like time-to-fill and quality of hire; present trends to the VP monthly.
Requirements8
- 18+ years in People & Culture or Talent Acquisition, with recruiting strategy and performance management.
- 23+ years leading a recruiting or People & Culture team.
- 3Experience in a field-based, multi-site environment like construction or manufacturing.
- 4Hands-on performance coaching, documentation, and conflict resolution.
- 5Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment law.
- 6Proficiency with ATS and HRIS for data-driven decisions.
- 7Strong communication and relationship-building across corporate and field teams.
- 8Preferred: construction or real estate development industry experience.
