The Director of Development leads corporate and individual giving programs at the Williams Institute, managing events, grants, and donor relationships. This role oversees a team of four staff members and drives strategic initiatives to expand the Institute's income base and impact. What You'll Do11
- 1Lead corporate and individual giving programs including events and grant acquisition
- 2Supervise a team of four full-time staff members including the Fundraising Manager
- 3Oversee grant management and budgeting alongside the Assistant Director of Grant and Finance Administration
- 4Design and execute fundraising campaigns to increase institutional revenue
- 5Maintain donor relationships through diplomatic communication and strategic outreach
- 6Analyze financial data using advanced spreadsheet skills to inform decision making
- 7Develop and implement event logistics to ensure operational efficiency
- 8Cultivate new funding streams through analytical strategy and relationship building
- 9Ensure compliance with organizational policies governing donor relations
- 10Manage budget creation and expenditure tracking for departmental activities
- 11Coordinate with university administration to align development efforts with institutional goals
Requirements13
- 1Minimum of eight years progressive responsibility in professional development or related fields
- 2Five years proven event planning experience in nonprofit development settings
- 3Diplomatic public interaction skills with emphasis on discretion
- 4Exceptional written communication proficient in English grammar and punctuation
- 5Strong track record of closing gifts in special and major donations
- 6Expert knowledge of fundraising terminology and program application
- 7Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management databases
- 8Ability to analyze organizational budgets and grant lifecycle management
- 9Experience with grant proposal writing and reporting requirements
- 10Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- 11Background check clearance and live scan requirement prior to hire
- 12Commitment to advancing LGBT rights through rigorous research
- 13Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for fundraising events
