
Digital Services Technical Manager
Overview
You will own the technical strategy for a multi-team digital services portfolio supporting federal clients, driving innovation across AWS-native infrastructure and application development. Leading Software Developers, Site Reliability Engineers, and Automation Engineers, you'll align engineering roadmaps with mission-critical objectives. This role demands hands-on technical leadership, bridging security, cloud operations, and testing in a fully remote, EST hours environment. You'll shape the engineering culture and directly influence delivery outcomes from the first week.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build a cross-functional engineering roadmap within the first 90 days, prioritizing AWS service adoption and automation across developer, operations, and security teams.
- 2Drive technical innovation by facilitating design reviews and architecture discussions with Software Developers, SREs, and Automation Engineers.
- 3Own the technical relationship with federal stakeholders, translating public trust compliance requirements into actionable engineering practices.
- 4Lead incident response for production systems, coordinating Cloud Operations and Network Engineers to restore services and prevent recurrence.
- 5Evaluate and implement tooling for CI/CD, monitoring, and security, reducing mean time to recovery across AWS environments.
- 6Mentor engineers in modern practices, including infrastructure as code and site reliability principles, to elevate team performance.
- 7Collaborate with Database Engineers and Testing Engineers to ensure data integrity and quality gates in delivery pipelines.
- 8Scale engineering processes to support a growing portfolio, balancing speed to market with compliance in a public trust context.
Requirements8
- 15+ years managing technical teams in cloud-native environments with AWS.
- 2Hands-on experience with Site Reliability Engineering practices, including monitoring, alerting, and incident management.
- 3Proven track record leading cross-functional teams including Software Developers, Automation Engineers, and Security experts.
- 4Experience with continuous integration and deployment pipelines, including Git and CI/CD tools.
- 5Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, relevant to Network Engineers and Cloud Operations.
- 6Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance (eligibility required).
- 7Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- 8Demonstrated experience in agile methodologies and iterative delivery.
