Diesel Technician, Fleet Maintenance & Repair
Overview
The Diesel Technician maintains diesel equipment, completes inspections, and performs preventive maintenance to ensure safety and customer service. This role owns repair and maintenance across a fleet of vehicles, correcting deficiencies and completing adjustments. Technicians join a Career Pathways Program with advancement opportunities and regular merit increases. Work spans garage and outdoor conditions, requiring physical stamina and adherence to safety regulations.
What You'll Do10
- 1Perform maintenance tasks based on driver pre and post trip inspections, or as directed by the maintenance manager.
- 2Complete inspections and preventive maintenance requirements on diesel equipment, making appropriate corrections when needed.
- 3Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements.
- 4Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
- 5Maintain records for all work and procedures, reporting on issues.
- 6Perform accurate lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safety.
- 7Run diagnostic tests on vehicles and analyze results to problem solve; test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions when necessary.
- 8Perform preventive maintenance inspections, tire changes, brake changes, and other vehicle utilities; build, rebuild, and replace hydraulic components and hoses.
- 9Participate in training and learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, and services.
- 10Complete any other duties needed to drive the company vision, fulfill its mission, or abide by core values.
Requirements9
- 1High School Diploma or GED.
- 21+ year experience inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing trucks and stationary equipment.
- 3Valid Class A, B, or C driver's license.
- 4Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- 5Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective listening and problem-solving skills.
- 6Dedication to providing excellent customer service.
- 7Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
- 8Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including frequent lifting of heavy components, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing, and consistent standing, walking, and grasping.
- 9Successful completion of pre-employment testing, including a drug screen.
