We seek an experienced Diesel Mechanic with 5-7 years of hands-on experience to lead our maintenance team at L. Knife & Son. What You'll Do11
- 1Perform preventive maintenance on tractors trailers forklifts and fleet equipment
- 2Diagnose and resolve issues with diesel engines electrical hydraulic brake suspension and HVAC systems
- 3Complete accurate repair orders document work and maintain maintenance histories using fleet management software
- 4Prioritize repairs independently while minimizing equipment downtime
- 5Respond to roadside service calls throughout Southern Massachusetts and Cape Cod
- 6Assist with snow plowing maintenance and repairs
- 7Maintain a clean safe work area adhering to company safety policies and OSHA regulations
- 8Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with federal and state safety standards
- 9Collaborate with mechanics drivers and management to keep fleet operational safely
- 10Drive DOT inspections and uphold company standards
- 11Adapt to changing demands in a fast-paced environment
Requirements11
- 15+ years of diesel mechanic experience required
- 2Valid Class A CDL preferred but in-house training provided
- 3Clean valid driver’s license and ability to maintain DOT Medical Certificate
- 4Strong knowledge of diesel engines heavy-duty trucks and trailer repair
- 5Excellent troubleshooting organizational and problem-solving skills
- 6Experience with preventative maintenance programs and fleet management
- 7High attention to detail accuracy and safety focus
- 8Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- 9Flexibility to work weekends during peak operational months
- 10Physical stamina for standing walking bending climbing stairs and occasional outdoor work
- 11Willingness to travel to support company locations training or special projects
