Delivery Driver, Nonprofit Meal Routes (Philadelphia)
Overview
You will own safe, on-time delivery of meals and supplies to 20+ sites per route for CBS Food Program, a nonprofit serving children across Greater Philadelphia. You will join a small team committed to reliable nutrition for childcare and summer meal programs, handling CACFP and SFSP logistics with professionalism. What You'll Do10
- 1Operate delivery vehicle safely to reach 20+ assigned sites per route, managing all CACFP and SFSP meal deliveries
- 2Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting maintenance issues to the supervisor immediately
- 3Load and unload food products and supplies, maintaining food safety and handling standards at every stop
- 4Verify delivery accuracy by checking manifests and site-specific meal counts before departure and on arrival
- 5Maintain legible delivery logs and collect required signatures and documentation at each site
- 6Communicate with site directors and kitchen managers professionally, resolving any delivery concerns on the spot
- 7Adhere to all traffic laws and safety policies, protecting the confidentiality of children and families encountered
- 8Notify the supervisor of route delays or issues in real time via SMS or phone, adapting to weather or traffic
- 9Clean and maintain the delivery vehicle to project a professional image for the organization
- 10Collaborate with the warehouse team on loading sequences and inventory counts to support efficient routes
Requirements10
- 1Valid driver's license (PA or equivalent, non-CDL adequate for typical delivery vehicle)
- 2Clean driving record with no serious violations in the past 3-5 years
- 3Proof of auto insurance and ability to pass a background check for a child-serving role
- 4Ability to lift, carry, and stack food boxes safely (up to 40-50 lbs) on a daily basis
- 5Physical capacity to walk, bend, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- 6Excellent time management and route planning skills to meet early morning delivery windows
- 7Professional communication and customer service orientation when interacting with partners
- 8Basic literacy and numeracy to complete delivery logs and verify meal counts accurately
- 9Familiarity with federal nutrition programs (CACFP, SFSP) preferred, but not required
- 10Knowledge of Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, and Delaware County geography preferred
