DCO Technician Night Shift
Overview
You will own hardware reliability for Amazon data centers on the night shift, keeping servers and network gear operating at scale. You will diagnose failures, repair components, and respond to high-impact events like link outages and rackdowns. This role puts you at the core of Amazon's cloud infrastructure, where uptime depends on your hands-on technical skills.
What You'll Do9
- 1Diagnose hardware failures on servers, identify root causes, and repair or replace failing components like motherboards, drives, and power supplies.
- 2Respond to high-impact network events such as link outages and rackdowns, executing rapid restoration procedures to minimize downtime.
- 3Perform preventive maintenance and hardware upgrades during night shift windows, ensuring minimal disruption to live traffic.
- 4Document all repair actions and system updates in ticketing tools, maintaining accurate records for operational visibility.
- 5Collaborate with remote engineers to escalate complex issues, providing clear handoffs and detailed status updates.
- 6Audit inventory of spare parts, restock shelves, and tag components to support efficient repair cycles.
- 7Troubleshoot Layer 1 and Layer 2 network connectivity issues, testing cables, transceivers, and switch ports.
- 8Support rack builds and cabling projects, ensuring neat and compliant installations per Amazon's standards.
- 9Participate in shift handovers, communicating open tickets and unresolved issues to the next technician team.
Requirements9
- 1High school or equivalent diploma
- 21+ years of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience
- 3Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating shift schedule
- 4Experience repairing servers, diagnosing hardware faults, and replacing components like RAM, CPUs, or hard drives
- 5Knowledge of network protocols and Layer 1/2 troubleshooting, including cabling and basic switching concepts
- 6Ability to lift up to 25 kg and stand for extended periods during repair work
- 7Experience using ticketing systems and documenting maintenance activities
- 8Certification such as CompTIA A+ or Server+ (preferred)
- 9Prior experience in a data center or high-availability environment (preferred)
