Overview

You will own the health and uptime of LightEdge data centers, managing hardware, cabling, and infrastructure at scale. You join a tight-knit DC Operations team reporting to the Data Center Operations Manager, collaborating with technicians, project managers, and vendors. This role stands out for its hands-on scope: you'll install servers, terminate CAT6 and fiber, and resolve alarms in real time. What You'll Do10

  • 1Install servers and network gear into racks with fiber and CAT6 cabling.
  • 2Diagnose hardware failures and coordinate vendor repairs on server and network equipment.
  • 3Terminate and test Ethernet, fiber (single-mode and multi-mode), and telephone wiring.
  • 4Respond to alarm events and resolve infrastructure issues within service level targets.
  • 5Document rack layouts, cable paths, and asset records using DCIM tools.
  • 6Coordinate vendor visits, rack access, and maintenance windows with clear communication.
  • 7Perform hardware refreshes, firmware upgrades, and component swaps with zero unplanned downtime.
  • 8Assist project managers in delivering new client installations from rack design to service turn-up.
  • 9Support on-call rotations for after-hours maintenance and break/fix activity.
  • 10Travel to remote sites for custom hardware buildouts when needed.

Requirements10

  • 12-year technical degree or 4-8 years in a technical environment or military MOS.
  • 2Proven skills terminating CAT6, fiber, and telephone cabling.
  • 32+ years performing routine maintenance in a data center environment.
  • 4Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
  • 5Strong knowledge of network fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, and media identification.
  • 6Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and web-based management tools.
  • 7Understanding of cooling systems (CRAC, CRAH) and airflow management.
  • 8Ability to document procedures clearly and follow MOPs.
  • 9Experience with building management systems (BMS) and computerized monitoring.
  • 10Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for vendor and client interactions.
