What You'll Do14
- 1Define target-state architecture of the enterprise data platform including ingestion storage processing and consumption layers
- 2Establish standards for data modeling schema evolution partitioning file formats and storage organization
- 3Architect lakehouse warehouse and streaming patterns using Snowflake Databricks BigQuery Redshift Iceberg Delta Lake or Hudi
- 4Design end-to-end data pipelines balancing latency cost reliability and maintainability across batch and streaming workloads
- 5Lead integration of governance lineage and catalog tools such as Collibra Alation Atlan Unity Catalog or DataHub
- 6Define security architecture with row and column-level controls masking encryption and identity-aware access patterns
- 7Partner with ML BI and product teams to align platform capabilities with downstream consumption needs
- 8Establish data contract and data product principles to drive ownership quality and decoupling between producers and consumers
- 9Lead architecture reviews providing guidance on pipeline and warehouse design proposals across teams
- 10Drive cost optimization and capacity planning across the data platform estate
- 11Design disaster recovery multi-region and high-availability strategies for critical data assets
- 12Mentor data engineers and architects on platform standards and emerging best practices
- 13Produce architecture artifacts including context diagrams decision records and reference patterns
- 14Stay current with data platform research vendor offerings and open-source ecosystem developments
Requirements15
- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 28+ years experience in data engineering with significant time in architecture roles
- 3Deep expertise across at least two major data platforms such as Snowflake Databricks BigQuery or Redshift
- 4Strong understanding of lakehouse architectures modern table formats and streaming systems
- 5Hands-on experience with Flink or Kafka at production scale
- 6Strong data modeling expertise across dimensional normalized and data-vault patterns
- 7Experience implementing governance lineage and catalog capabilities
- 8Solid grasp of cloud platforms networking identity and cost optimization
- 9Excellent communication facilitation and stakeholder management skills
- 10Track record of leading large data platform initiatives across teams
- 11Experience with data mesh or data product architectures
- 12Familiarity with semantic layers such as dbt Semantic Layer Cube or LookML
- 13Exposure to regulated industries with strict data residency or audit requirements
- 14Cloud or platform certifications (Snowflake Databricks AWS Azure GCP)
- 15Public talks or writing on data architecture
