Data I/O Operator, Post-Production Media
Overview
As a Data I/O Operator, you will own secure media movement, conversion, archival, and delivery for streaming and theatrical releases. You will manage assets across Linux, LTO, and shared storage, collaborating with Production, Online Editorial, and Color teams. You will troubleshoot in macOS and Linux terminal environments using find, grep, and chmod. This role offers hands-on work with HDCAM-SR, Avid, Resolve, and Colorfront. You will validate data integrity with checksums and manifests while supporting time-sensitive production deadlines.
What You'll Do8
- 1Receive, ingest, and transfer media from digital and tape sources using macOS and Linux terminal and file-transfer tools.
- 2Create secure deliveries via cloud platforms and client portals, validating file counts, sizes, and checksums.
- 3Convert and transcode media for internal departments with Colorfront Transkoder and DaVinci Resolve.
- 4Manage LTO archive writes and restores using LTFS and TAR workflows, confirming success via manifests.
- 5Organize and track assets across shared storage, verifying permissions and directory structures with find and chmod.
- 6Support dailies and finishing by ingesting media through Avid Media Composer and Resolve.
- 7Monitor active jobs for failures and troubleshoot file-system, transfer, and archive issues.
- 8Escalate risks to producers and the Data Manager while documenting handoffs for shift continuity.
Requirements8
- 11-2 years in post-production or Data I/O, with macOS, Windows, and Linux experience.
- 2Proficiency in Linux terminal commands including ls, cd, cp, mv, find, grep, and chmod.
- 3Working knowledge of LTFS and TAR for LTO archival and restoration.
- 4Familiarity with checksums (MD5, SHA) and data integrity validation.
- 5Experience with Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, or Colorfront.
- 6Ability to handle HDCAM-SR and other tape formats.
- 7Strong troubleshooting skills for storage, permissions, and file systems.
- 8Clear communication and attention to detail in time-sensitive environments.
