Overview
Directs and monitors pedestrians at crosswalks and school zones ensuring student safety at scale across district facilities. Collaborates with school staff and district security to enforce crossing procedures and maintain discipline. Attends trainings to stay current on procedures and safety policies. This role stands out by integrating traffic control with student support and district safety programs.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead crosswalk operations and assist students and community members to cross safely
- 2Display signs, stop traffic, and alert motorists at crosswalks and school zones
- 3Monitor student behavior and enforce district policies to maintain a safe environment
- 4Place and remove appropriate crosswalk and school zone signs per operating agreements
- 5Attend district and school meetings and safety trainings to stay current on procedures
- 6Perform other duties as required by the district
- 7Maintain reflective clothing and equipment for visibility during duties
- 8Interact with supervisors, staff, students to exchange information and coordinate safety
- 9Monitor and document student progress in reading and mathematics as applicable to the role
- 10Support emergency response procedures and safety drills as needed
Requirements5
- 1Completion of District Crossing Guard Training Program
- 2Valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (AZ IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
- 3Ability to work onsite in a crosswalk and school property environment
- 4High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- 5One year of experience as a crossing guard preferred
