Overview
Crossing Guard role at Washington Elementary School District 6; onsite contract, 0.5 FTE. The guard directs students and community through crosswalks, enforces procedures, and maintains order on school property at intersections and zones. You will wear reflective clothing, follow district safety training, and coordinate with staff to ensure student safety. This position supports school operations and community safety with a focus on consistent, visible crossing supervision.
What You'll Do5
- 1Direct, monitor, and assist students and community members to cross at established crosswalks and school zones
- 2Alert motorists to the presence of students by displaying signs and stopping traffic when crossing is required
- 3Maintain discipline and monitor student behavior according to school and District policies
- 4Sign placement and removal for crosswalk zones per operating agreement
- 5Wear reflective clothing and participate in safety trainings and district meetings
Requirements5
- 1Completion of District Crossing Guard Training Program prior to performing crossing guard duties
- 2High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- 3One year of experience as a crossing guard preferred
- 4Knowledge of school rules, policies, and disciplinary steps
- 5Ability to identify and respond to emergency situations
