Overview
The Counselor at Behavioral Health Group will lead efforts to help patients achieve social educational and occupational success while supporting them in achieving a drug-free lifestyle. This role involves providing emotional and physical support through individual and group counseling. The position requires adherence to schedules and regulatory standards while ensuring quality patient care.
What You'll Do14
- 1Conduct regular alcohol and drug abuse counseling sessions and group sessions as required
- 2Orient patients to treatment program operations and procedures
- 3Collect and assess social educational economic and vocational information
- 4Develop and revise patient treatment plans maintaining comprehensive records
- 5Make appropriate referrals and perform necessary follow-ups
- 6Assist in implementing new programs and advise on caseload management
- 7Provide in-service training to staff and maintain basic understanding of addiction
- 8Conduct intake readmission services and provide supportive follow-up counseling
- 9Perform crisis intervention and inter-agency documentation
- 10Coordinate care with community providers as needed
- 11Participate in and provide in-service training required by federal state and accrediting agencies
- 12Attend conferences meetings and training programs
- 13Schedule and attend regular in-service training
- 14Perform OBOT services and report work-related issues immediately
Requirements6
- 1Minimum 5+ years of experience in behavioral health
- 2Current counseling credentials such as CADC-I or CADC
- 3Ability to make decisions and use proper judgment with confidential and sensitive issues
- 4Capacity to react quickly and make effective decisions
- 5Sufficient knowledge of human behavior substance abuse populations and treatment planning
- 6Compliance with federal and state regulations regarding certification licensure and degree
