COTA in School-Based Therapy, Pediatric & Special Education
Overview
Owns and delivers occupational therapy services in a school setting for students with disabilities under supervision. Supports evaluations, plan implementation, progress documentation, and collaboration with teachers and families. Works with pediatric and sensory-impaired students to improve daily living, motor, and classroom participation skills. This role combines clinical OT expertise with education policy adherence and Medicaid billing in Public Schools.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build and conduct student screenings and evaluations
- 2Design and implement individualized therapy interventions based on goals
- 3Document daily sessions and prepare quarterly progress reports
- 4Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams on student progress
- 5Participate in MIPS documentation and billing while maintaining records
- 6Follow Arizona Special Education policies and agency procedures
- 7Support students with sensory processing and daily living challenges in classroom settings
- 8Assist with data collection for progress monitoring and IEP goals
Requirements10
- 1Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification
- 2Active Arizona COTA License (or eligibility)
- 3Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- 4Minimum 2 years of therapy experience
- 5Pediatric therapy experience preferred
- 6Experience with sensory-impaired children and complex needs
- 7Ability to pass FBI and State background checks
- 8Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (Level 1)
- 9CPR/BLS Certification
- 10TB Skin Test Hepatitis B Vaccination or Declination Status
