Cosmetology Instructor, Hair & Beauty Education
Overview
You will deliver theory and practical training in cosmetology, guiding students through the Learn About Beauty (LAB) Online Program. You'll prepare lesson plans, test student competence, and discuss progress to ensure mastery of skills. You'll collaborate with management to uphold Dudley Beauty College's mission and core values. This contract role on-site in Washington, DC requires a Cosmetology Instructor License and blends teaching with student mentorship.
What You'll Do6
- 1Deliver theory and practical instruction per the scheduled curriculum, using LAB Online for lesson plans.
- 2Evaluate student performance on theory and practical skills, assigning grades and practical check-offs.
- 3Meet with students to discuss test results, offer feedback, and track their progress toward State Board readiness.
- 4Demonstrate effective communication in the classroom and lab, fostering professionalism aligned with school policies.
- 5Maintain a professional environment that adheres to the school's mission, rules, and regulations.
- 6Assist students with career placement strategies and entrepreneurial skill development through consultation.
Requirements6
- 12+ years teaching or training experience in cosmetology or a related beauty field.
- 2Current Cosmetology Instructor License in the District of Columbia.
- 3Experience using LAB Online or similar learning management systems.
- 4Strong communication and interpersonal skills for teaching and student interaction.
- 5Knowledge of State Board cosmetology examination requirements and standards.
- 6Ability to prepare structured lesson plans and deliver engaging practical demonstrations.
Salary Insight
