Overview

You will own food preparation and service for a full-time Cook role at Wellesley Public Schools, serving up to 1,200 meals daily. You will work 6:00 am to 2:00 pm with weekends, holidays, school vacations, and summers off. What You'll Do9

  • 1Prepare food items per standardized recipes using HACCP guidelines, ensuring quality and portion control.
  • 2Serve meals with correct portioning, maintaining proper temperatures and appealing presentation.
  • 3Taste all prepared items to verify flavor and consistency.
  • 4Clean kitchen after service, including equipment, refrigerators, and storerooms, to ServSafe standards.
  • 5Store or discard excess food per safe-handling procedures.
  • 6Operate kitchen equipment safely, including slicers, ovens, and fryers, with required protective gear.
  • 7Assist in production planning, record keeping, and ordering of food and supplies.
  • 8Report maintenance issues, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • 9Attend in-service and safety meetings, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements6

  • 11-3 years of high-volume cooking experience required.
  • 2ServSafe certification required.
  • 3Ability to follow standardized recipes and instructions.
  • 4Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, including HACCP.
  • 5Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a kitchen environment.
  • 6Must pass background screening and drug test, as required by school district.
