Construction Superintendent, Interior Finish Projects
Overview
You will own interior finish projects in Houston from permit to punch list, delivering 5-10 commercial spaces per year across medical, office, and retail sectors. You report to the VP of Construction and coordinate a team of 10-15 subcontractors and field staff. Your decisions on scheduling and quality directly impact repeat business for Veritas General Contractors. This role suits a leader who reads plans closely and moves projects forward without hand-holding.
What You'll Do8
- 1Supervise all phases of interior finish work, from rough-in to closeout, on commercial projects up to $5M.
- 2Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to guide daily field operations.
- 3Coordinate with city officials to secure permits and pass inspections on schedule.
- 4Direct 10-15 subcontractors and suppliers to meet milestones in MS Project schedules.
- 5Enforce job site safety, quality control, and compliance with building codes and OSHA standards.
- 6Maintain daily reports and update project management on progress, risks, and resolutions.
- 7Resolve on-site conflicts—schedule clashes, material delays, or design questions—within 24 hours.
- 8Lead weekly trade coordination meetings to align work sequences and reduce rework.
Requirements7
- 15+ years supervising interior finish-out for commercial construction.
- 2Expert ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
- 32+ years creating and editing schedules in MS Project.
- 4Proven track record delivering projects on time and under budget.
- 5Knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and OSHA standards.
- 6Strong leadership and communication skills to manage crews and clients.
- 7Spanish/English bilingual is a plus.
