Overview

Own roadway inspection and materials testing programs for North Carolina transportation projects at scale. You will lead field testing, documentation, and QA activities to ensure compliance with NCDOT standards. Join a multidisciplinary team focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. This role is onsite in Raleigh and involves travel to multiple project sites.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and perform roadway inspections and QA testing following NCDOT standards to ensure project quality
  • 2Conduct asphalt density testing and field testing with appropriate gauges and equipment to generate accurate results
  • 3Carry out materials testing for asphalt and concrete and document findings clearly for project stakeholders
  • 4Document test results, inspection observations, and QA activities with precision and timeliness
  • 5Communicate findings and issues to project managers, contractors, and agency representatives to drive issue resolution
  • 6Maintain density gauges and testing equipment, ensuring calibration and readiness for field work
  • 7Follow safety policies on active construction sites and in the field at all times
  • 8Assist with project reporting and recordkeeping, including detailed reports and data management
  • 9Apply familiarity with NCDOT specifications and testing procedures to daily tasks and audits
  • 10Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team delivering engineering, environmental, and construction materials testing services

Requirements5

  • 1Current NCDOT QMS Roadway Technician Certification
  • 2Current NCDOT QMS Density Gauge Technician Certification
  • 3Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • 4Prior experience in roadway construction inspection, materials testing, or quality management
  • 5Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with project managers, contractors, and agency representatives
