Assistant Project Manager, Civil Engineering & Transportation NC
Overview
Civil Engineering and transportation project leadership opportunity in North Carolina. Own and coordinate project delivery for private development and state transportation programs, guiding cross functional teams toward on time results. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field personnel in a fast paced environment. This role emphasizes growth into a full Project Manager with exposure to large scale transportation programs and commercial development.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build project delivery efforts across private commercial, land development, and transportation projects in North Carolina
- 2Assist with execution of transportation programs and contracts as pursuits with state transportation agencies
- 3Manage flow of work across engineers, field personnel, and project teams to keep projects moving forward
- 4Serve as operational traffic director for project workflows, ensuring tasks are assigned tracked and completed on schedule
- 5Align resources across multiple projects clarify priorities and remove obstacles
- 6Coordinate with project managers engineers and field staff to ensure seamless communication throughout the project lifecycle
- 7Support project management activities including tracking progress monitoring deadlines and follow up on action items
- 8Help solve day to day project challenges and escalate issues to senior leadership when needed
- 9Contribute to growth of the North Carolina transportation practice by supporting private and public sector opportunities
- 10Enable senior leadership to focus on client service business development and strategic initiatives by effectively managing operational workflows
Requirements10
- 1Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology Engineering Construction Management or related field is required
- 2Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or related discipline is preferred
- 3Civil Engineering Intern EI EIT certification is highly preferred
- 4Approximately 5 6 years of relevant experience in civil engineering transportation infrastructure or related fields is ideal
- 5At least 3 years of experience on NCDOT projects and exposure to commercial development projects is preferred
- 6Experience with state DOT projects, particularly NCDOT or other state transportation agencies, is strongly preferred
- 7Experience supporting private commercial development projects or similar commercial work
- 8Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and concurrent tasks
- 9Strong written and verbal communication skills to coordinate effectively with engineers, field personnel, and clients
- 10Strong coordination skills to align resources and manage workflows across technical and field staff

$80 - $110k per year
