Overview

You will own recreation and community programming for the Borough of Dormont, a walkable Pittsburgh suburb. You direct Dormont Pool operations and Summer Day Camp, coordinate community events, and serve as liaison to the Recreation Board. You manage budgets, vendor contracts, and seasonal staff. What You'll Do10

  • 1Build a year-round recreation calendar spanning youth sports, aquatics, fitness, and cultural programs, launching new offerings within 90 days.
  • 2Administer the Dormont Pool season, overseeing registrations, vendor contracts, and health department compliance.
  • 3Direct Summer Day Camp operations, managing registration, refunds, waitlists, and parent communication.
  • 4Coordinate logistics for signature events like Dormont Day and the Street and Music Festival, partnering with vendors and municipal departments.
  • 5Produce agendas and reports for Recreation Board meetings, implementing council-approved initiatives.
  • 6Manage recreation budgets, tracking expenditures and revenue across all program areas.
  • 7Negotiate and administer vendor contracts for pool concessions, event planners, and program instructors.
  • 8Respond to resident inquiries with clear communication, resolving complex pool and program issues.
  • 9Source grant funding for recreation improvements and new program pilots.
  • 10Maintain recreation webpages and registration portals, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.

Requirements9

  • 1Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, Public Administration, or related field.
  • 23-5 years of experience in municipal recreation, aquatics, or event coordination.
  • 3Proficiency with Microsoft Office and recreation registration software.
  • 4Valid Pennsylvania driver's license and child abuse clearances.
  • 5Ability to work evenings and weekends for programs and events.
  • 6Experience supervising seasonal staff and volunteers.
  • 7Skill in budget administration and vendor management.
  • 8Strong conflict resolution and customer service skills.
  • 9Ability to lift 25 pounds and work in outdoor weather conditions.
