Overview
Commercial Carpenter role focused on constructing and finishing wood structures for commercial projects at scale. You’ll read blueprints, lay out carpentry tasks, and install doors, windows, trim, and acoustical ceilings. Work with a range of materials while applying strict safety and building code standards. You will collaborate with onsite crews, foremen, and project managers to deliver high quality millwork and finish carpentry on schedule. What You'll Do10
- 1Build and install structures, millwork, partitions, and cabinetwork according to plans and codes with attention to quality
- 2Design and lay out accurate measurements using rules, framing squares, calipers, and levels
- 3Install doors, door frames, windows, hardware, and finish trim on commercial spaces
- 4Erect scaffolding and ladders to access elevated work areas safely
- 5Oversee small special projects and ensure safety, timeliness, and quality are met
- 6Read blueprints and specifications to determine construction methods and sequencing
- 7Prepare accurate layouts and mark cutting lines for materials
- 8Cut, shape, and assemble materials using nails, dowels, glue, and other approved methods
- 9Verify alignment and true trueness of structures with levels and plumb bobs
- 10Perform installation of decorative and sound deadening paneling on ceilings and walls
Requirements12
- 1At least 2 years of carpentry experience preferably in commercial construction
- 2Strong carpentry skills including framing trim finish carpentry and paneling
- 3Ability to read and interpret blueprints sketches and building plans
- 4Experience installing commercial doors windows trim and related hardware
- 5Familiar with metal studs drywall millwork and acoustic ceilings
- 6Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for long periods
- 7Experience with hand tools and power tools and basic measuring tools
- 8Ability to follow verbal and written directions and solve basic mathematical problems quickly
- 9Comfort working outdoors and indoors in varying weather and construction site conditions
- 10Onsite Columbus area employment full time contract to hire
