Overview
You will own the deployment pipeline and production operations for customer-facing cloud software serving organizations across the globe. Working on an agile platform team, you will automate infrastructure, harden security, and improve reliability. This contract role offers a path to permanent hire and requires 3 days on-site in Pittsburgh, PA. You will directly influence uptime and performance for a system that processes millions of events daily.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, or GitLab CI to reduce release cycles from weeks to days.
- 2Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform and CloudFormation, ensuring repeatable and secure environments.
- 3Monitor system health and performance using Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana, and set up alerts to detect anomalies before users notice.
- 4Debug production issues across the stack, from load balancers to application logs, and resolve root causes within SLA.
- 5Scale containerized services running on EKS (Kubernetes) by tuning autoscaling policies and optimizing resource requests.
- 6Drive security best practices: manage secrets with AWS Secrets Manager, rotate credentials, and harden IAM roles.
- 7Lead incident response and post-mortems, documenting runbooks to prevent repeat failures.
- 8Collaborate with development teams to refactor applications for better cloud-native performance and cost efficiency.
Requirements8
- 15+ years in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering, with at least 3+ years on AWS.
- 2Expertise in Terraform and CloudFormation for infrastructure as code.
- 3Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (or EKS) in production.
- 4Proficiency in Python or Bash for scripting and automation.
- 5Strong background with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
- 6Experience with monitoring stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog.
- 7Solid understanding of IAM, VPC, and security groups.
- 8Excellent troubleshooting skills across Linux and network layers.
