Overview
You will lead clinical development for novel therapies targeting inflammatory myopathies, JIA, and Sjogren's Disease at AstraZeneca. Own the integration of scientific and commercial strategies from early research to lifecycle management, ensuring robust study designs and regulatory success. You will oversee cross-functional teams and external partners, driving delivery against timelines and budgets. What You'll Do10
- 1Integrate research and commercial strategies to create value across the drug development lifecycle, overseeing a team of clinical research professionals.
- 2Design and oversee studies assessing scientific and commercial viability, interpreting results to guide portfolio decisions.
- 3Maintain scientific rigor and commercial focus, ensuring products meet regulatory, market, and patient needs.
- 4Plan and manage all clinical development components: feasibility, timelines, budgets, risk planning, and resource allocation.
- 5Provide strategic input into global clinical development plans and implement agreed processes and technologies.
- 6Lead CRO selection and negotiation, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- 7Participate in steering committees and regulatory defense teams, preparing submission documentation.
- 8Bridge internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and critical information flow.
- 9Champion a culture of leadership and innovation, mentoring staff in professional growth.
- 10Monitor performance, provide feedback, and ensure compliance with standards.
Requirements8
- 1Advanced clinical degree (M.D., PhD, or equivalent) in a scientific or health-related discipline
- 25+ years in clinical development within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- 33+ years managing cross-functional teams and external partners (CROs)
- 4Comprehensive knowledge of the drug development process
- 5Demonstrated knowledge of AstraZeneca line and project management tools
- 6Understanding of therapeutic areas related to AstraZeneca products
- 7Excellent written and verbal communication in English
- 8Ability to travel nationally and internationally
