Claim Representative Accident & Health Claims
Overview
You will own the full lifecycle of assigned accident and health claims, from first notice to settlement, across a hybrid schedule in Chicago or other listed offices. You will investigate coverage, liability, and damages, and negotiate settlements up to your authority. Working within Intact's Specialty Solutions team, you will handle UM/UIM and PIP claims, collaborating with adjusters, appraisers, and legal experts. This role offers direct exposure to complex specialty lines and a clear path for growth in a global insurance leader. You will make decisions independently, backed by a supportive team and robust tools.
What You'll Do8
- 1Make timely contacts with claimants, insureds, and witnesses to gather initial facts within 24 hours of assignment.
- 2Take recorded statements from all involved parties to document claim details accurately.
- 3Determine coverage, liability, and damages through investigation, using accident reports, police reports, and expert opinions as needed.
- 4Set initial reserves based on exposure analysis and adjust them as new information emerges.
- 5Assign and direct independent adjusters and appraisers to support complex claims.
- 6Negotiate settlements within your authority level, and recommend actions for claims beyond it.
- 7Document all claim activity clearly, maintaining a file that supports your decisions.
- 8Stay current on state licensing requirements and complete required education to maintain compliance.
Requirements8
- 11-3 years of claims experience in accident and health or related lines.
- 2Experience handling UM/UIM claims, including coverage analysis and negotiation.
- 3Experience handling PIP claims, including medical review and cost containment.
- 4Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent technical claims experience.
- 5Strong investigative skills with the ability to gather and evaluate evidence.
- 6Effective negotiation skills to settle claims fairly and within authority.
- 7Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office.
- 8Active adjuster licenses as required by state, or ability to obtain them.
