Claim Representative, Accident and Health Insurance
Overview
You will own the full claims lifecycle for accident and health policies, managing 50+ active files with settlements up to $25K. You will collaborate with a team of 8 adjusters and report to the Claims Supervisor in a hybrid schedule across 11 U.S. offices. This role stands out for its direct exposure to UM/UIM and PIP cases, plus a clear path to senior adjuster within 2 years.
What You'll Do8
- 1Contact all parties within 24 hours and complete liability investigations using Guidewire and ImageRight.
- 2Take recorded statements from claimants, witnesses, and insureds to establish coverage and liability.
- 3Set initial reserves within 48 hours and adjust them based on new evidence, using Claims Workstation.
- 4Direct independent adjusters and appraisers, reviewing their reports for accuracy and completeness.
- 5Analyze police reports, medical records, and expert opinions to determine case value.
- 6Negotiate settlements within your $25K authority, documenting all offers and counteroffers in Claims Workstation.
- 7Escalate claims above authority to management with a clear recommendation for resolution.
- 8Maintain state adjuster licenses and complete 20 hours of continuing education annually.
Requirements7
- 11-3 years of claims experience, with at least 1 year handling accident and health claims.
- 2UM/UIM experience, including investigation and settlement of uninsured motorist claims.
- 3PIP experience, including medical bill review and negotiation.
- 4Bachelor's degree in business, insurance, or related field, or equivalent claims technical experience.
- 5Active adjuster license in at least one state, with ability to obtain additional licenses within 90 days.
- 6Proficiency with Microsoft Office and claims management software like Guidewire or ImageRight.
- 7Strong negotiation and communication skills, with a track record of resolving disputes.
