- 1Own and direct daily department operations

- 4Review residential and commercial permits for code compliance
- 5Coordinate meetings with Building Code Advisory Board
- 6Manage contractor license hearings and status reviews
- 7Update International Building Codes
- 8Lead education initiatives on construction regulations
- 9Serve as expert witness for code violation complaints
- 10Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective engagement
- 11Delegate authority to staff for project completion
- 12Develop division budget and oversee expenditures
- 13Plan evaluate division functions and activities
- 14Travel attend meetings train and represent department
- 15Responsible for ISO (BCEGS) accreditation process
- 16Represent department on city committees
- 17Perform duties of Director when absent
- 18Develop staff work plans track progress and conduct appraisals
- 19Make hiring promotion transfer disciplinary decisions
- 20Coach and counsel staff to maximize efficiency
- 21Educate staff on rules regulations policies procedures
- 22Support creative thinking and problem solving
- 23Provide training and job enrichment opportunities
- 24Expert knowledge of building construction codes and standards
- 25Lead multidisciplinary teams and facilitate collaboration

- 30Hold ICC Certified Building Official certification
- 31Possess valid Colorado driver's license
- 32Complete five years experience as building inspector plans examiner or deputy official
- 33Have two years supervisory experience in building division
