Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Skilled Nursing Care
Overview
As a Certified Nursing Assistant at our skilled nursing facility, you will deliver hands-on care to residents, supporting daily living activities and monitoring health changes under licensed nurse supervision. You will collaborate with a care team of RNs and LPNs to implement individualized care plans, focusing on dignity and independence. What You'll Do9
- 1Provide direct resident care including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding with attention to each resident's abilities and preferences.
- 2Measure and document vital signs, weight, intake/output, and meal consumption, reporting changes to nursing staff.
- 3Assist with mobility, transfers, and repositioning using proper body mechanics and lift equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- 4Respond to call lights promptly, assess resident needs, and communicate observations to licensed nurses.
- 5Support residents with dementia by using effective communication techniques and behavioral interventions to maximize function and comfort.
- 6Maintain accurate records in the MDS/CAA process, documenting care and responses as per facility policy.
- 7Perform restorative nursing services: range-of-motion exercises, bowel and bladder retraining, and use of assistive devices.
- 8Ensure a clean and safe environment by cleaning wheelchairs, utility areas, showers, and kitchen spaces, and following infection control protocols.
- 9Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a positive living environment and encouraging resident choices.
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or GED required.
- 2State-tested CNA in good standing, or graduate of a state-approved program passing the competency exam within 120 days of hire.
- 3Must be listed on the state nurse aide registry.
- 41+ years of CNA experience in skilled nursing or long-term care preferred.
- 5Computer skills for electronic documentation and care tracking.
- 6Ability to pass state and federal criminal background checks.
- 7Physical ability to lift, transfer, and position residents using lift equipment.
- 8Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
