CASE Program Aide, Special Education
Overview
As a CASE Program Aide, you will support students with low incidence disabilities in developing independent living and vocational skills, both in classroom and community settings. You will work under a special education teacher, assisting with instructional plans, personal care, and crisis intervention. This role is part of Spring ISD's Community Academic Structured Education program, based in Houston, Texas, with a focus on real-world skill building. You will help students achieve their IEP goals and gain confidence in daily living. This position offers a chance to make a direct impact on student growth.
What You'll Do9
- 1Assist the special education teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- 2Implement instructional plans to develop students' skills in independent living, community access, and vocational training.
- 3Train, monitor, and coach students in classroom and community settings.
- 4Intervene in crisis situations and restrain disruptive or dangerous behavior as needed.
- 5Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
- 6Supervise students throughout the school day, ensuring safety and engagement.
- 7Document student progress and performance through various reports.
- 8Transport students using a district vehicle, requiring a CDL.
- 9Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
Requirements9
- 1High school graduate or GED from an accredited institution.
- 248 hours of college coursework.
- 3Pass Spring ISD's NCLB test in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
- 4Hold or be willing to obtain an Educational Aide II Certificate.
- 5Ability to acquire a CDL.
- 6Preferred: Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college.
- 7Preferred: 1+ years of experience with children.
- 8Preferred: previous experience as a vocational trainer or teaching aide.
- 9Preferred: fluent in Spanish and English.
