Café Cashier & Team Member, Coffee Shop & History
Overview
You will run the guest experience at Andrew & Rachel’s Café inside Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage, serving coffee, sandwiches, and alcoholic beverages to 100+ daily visitors. A small team of 8 relies on you for POS transactions, food prep, and opening or closing duties. You will work alongside history educators and event staff, supporting private rentals and seasonal programs. This role stands out for its mission-driven setting and growth paths into leadership.
What You'll Do8
- 1Greet guests and take orders using the Square POS system with accuracy and speed
- 2Prepare and serve espresso drinks, sandwiches, and salads to café standards
- 3Handle cash and card transactions, balancing the register at shift end
- 4Keep the café floor, counters, and back-of-house spotless, following ServSafe food safety rules
- 5Restock coffee beans, pastries, and retail merchandise before peak hours
- 6Support opening and closing checklists, including equipment startup and cash drops
- 7Collaborate with the café manager and event coordinators during private rentals and holiday events
- 8Cross-train on ABC card alcohol service to pour wine and beer for events
Requirements6
- 11+ year experience in café, coffee shop, restaurant, bar, or retail hospitality
- 2ABC card certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire (training provided)
- 3High school diploma or equivalent
- 46+ months cash handling and POS system operation
- 5Ability to stand for 8-hour shifts and lift 30 lbs
- 6Weekend and holiday availability with 30–35 hours for full-time or 20–25 hours for part-time
