Bus Driver, Community Transportation & Elderly Services
Overview
The Bus Driver will transport residents to local destinations for the Largo Landing community at Upper Marlboro MD, supporting safe and courteous service on a community bus. You will work with a small team to maintain smooth operations, adhere to traffic laws, and support residents with mobility needs.
What You'll Do12
- 1Greet residents and visitors and create a welcoming environment
- 2Sign out and prep the bus, ensuring operational condition before routes
- 3Transport passengers along pre-determined routes following traffic laws
- 4Assist residents with entering and exiting the bus and with groceries or bags
- 5Drop off and pick up within safe, practical stops and destinations
- 6Enforce a no-smoking policy on the bus
- 7Return the bus, keys, and time sheet at shift end
- 8Report unusual situations to management and document as required
- 9Respond to emergencies per community procedures and log events
- 10Adhere to special driving requirements from authorities for specific destinations
- 11Maintain passenger counts and keep bus logbooks current
- 12Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements5
- 1High School Diploma or GED
- 2Valid State commercial driver’s license and approval by SLN insurance carrier
- 3Effective written and oral communication
- 4Patient, helpful, and courteous demeanor suitable for elderly and disabled residents
- 5Physical ability to type, walk, bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, stand for periods, and lift up to 50 lbs
