
Budget Analyst, Federal Contract HHS AHRQ
Overview
The Budget Analyst will support budget formulation, execution, and financial analysis for AHRQ within HHS at Rockville Maryland with hybrid/onsite requirements. You will monitor funds, ensure budget control, and assist in managing discretionary, mandatory, and reimbursable funding and compliance. This role focuses on federal grant and contract budget processes in a dynamic environment. You will work with a cross functional team to enable accurate forecasting and financial stewardship.
What You'll Do10

- 4Own fund monitoring and reporting across multiple funding streams with timely communication to stakeholders
- 5Scale budget controls and processes to support program funding across a federal contract
- 6Prepare and review documentation for budget formulation and amendments in coordination with program managers
- 7Support audits and internal controls by providing accurate budget data and explanations
- 8Collaborate with finance, program, and contracting teams to align funding with strategic priorities
- 9Develop dashboards and reports to enable transparent decision making and accountability
- 10Lead continuous improvement efforts to streamline budget processes and data quality
Requirements5
- 1Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- 25+ years building and managing federal budget processes and financial reporting
- 3Experience with federal funding mechanisms including discretionary, mandatory, and reimbursable
- 4Strong knowledge of budget formulation, execution, and control in a federal contract setting
- 5Ability to analyze financial data, prepare narratives for budget justifications, and present findings to leadership
