What You'll Do8

  • 1Build Division and Department budgets, covering operating, salary, and facilities sections, using Excel and PeopleSoft.
  • 2Produce budgetary and management reports that detail expenditure trends, and present analysis to leadership for decision-making.
  • 3Coordinate budget preparation cycles, issuing instructions and ensuring accurate, timely submissions for budget requests and LAR.
  • 4Verify budget coding and approve purchase requisitions, researching codes to ensure sufficient funds.
  • 5Alert management to budget deviations, problems, and risks, and propose corrective actions.
  • 6Drive process improvements in budget tracking and reporting, leveraging PeopleSoft and Excel.
  • 7Supervise and guide junior analysts, overseeing their work and ensuring alignment with state regulations.
  • 8Interpret and apply state and federal statutes and regulations to budget actions, ensuring compliance.

Requirements7

  • 14+ years full-time experience in budget preparation, accounting, auditing, financial planning, or management.
  • 2Proven ability to interpret and apply state and federal statutes and regulations, and to set priorities under tight deadlines.
  • 3Strong analytical skills to gather and assess financial data, solve problems, and write clear, concise reports.
  • 4Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for data analysis and modeling.
  • 5Experience with PeopleSoft or a similar ERP system, preferred.
  • 6Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and frequent interruptions in a multi-project environment.
  • 7Must be a Texas resident or willing to relocate, and not require visa sponsorship.
