Biomedical Equipment Technician, Hospital Maintenance
Overview
You will perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety testing on hospital medical equipment. You own uptime and safety for devices across multiple clinical departments. You work closely with nurses and doctors to keep tools operational for patient care. This role builds your technical expertise under senior technicians. What You'll Do9
- 1Prevent medical device failures by performing scheduled inspections and safety testing
- 2Repair malfunctioning equipment including pumps, monitors, and ventilators on hospital floors
- 3Calibrate devices to factory specifications using diagnostic tools and software
- 4Document all maintenance and repair actions in the hospital's CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
- 5Coordinate with clinical staff to prioritize urgent equipment requests
- 6Answer technical questions from nurses and doctors about device operation
- 7Maintain inventory of spare parts and order replacements as needed
- 8Assist senior technicians with complex troubleshooting and equipment installations
- 9Complete work orders within 24 hours to meet regulatory compliance deadlines
Requirements7
- 12+ years of experience in biomedical engineering or related field
- 2Previous work experience in a hospital or clinical environment
- 3Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical setting
- 4Proficiency with multimeters, patient simulators, and electrical safety analyzers
- 5Knowledge of NFPA 99 and Joint Commission standards
- 6Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- 7High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is a plus
