Biomedical Equipment Support Technician, Hospital Equipment
Overview
You will own the operational backbone of biomedical equipment maintenance at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, ensuring patient care equipment is tracked, tested, and ready. You will coordinate vendor repairs, manage parts inventory, and support BMET Techs across a large hospital network. Your work directly enables the clinical teams at Mass General Brigham to deliver safe and reliable care. What You'll Do8
- 1Maintain accurate records of all supported equipment and their service histories.
- 2Process requisitions and purchase orders for external service and repair parts, keeping procurement within system guidelines.
- 3Coordinate vendor service and depot repair shipping, plus medical equipment moves and staging.
- 4Manage the inventory of service parts, using just-in-time ordering and setting par levels for optimal availability.
- 5Update the inventory control system after every work order, covering all equipment under department support.
- 6Assist BMET Techs with scheduled maintenance and reactive repairs on clinical electromechanical devices.
- 7Schedule and track all vendor-performed repairs and preventive maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- 8Complete documentation for each job, including work performed, parts used, and time spent.
Requirements7
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Biomedical Technology preferred.
- 20-1 year of related experience in biomedical equipment support or a similar technical field.
- 3Intermediate problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- 4Strong organizational and time management skills to juggle multiple repair orders.
- 5Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- 6Basic understanding of semiconductor equipment and processes, plus hospital equipment repair.
- 7Strong written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with vendors and clinical staff.
